Recipients of Community Fund Grants

Community Fund Donations

Donations from the Community Fund range from £200 to several thousand pounds.  Some of the grants made in 2015 include:

Harpenden Lions Club – £1,500 to support the voluntary service providing life skills and citizenship for the development of children in the area.

Southdown Play Area Working Group – £16,000 to assist in refurbishment of the Oakley Road play area.

National Childcare Trust – £2,500 to assist in covering costs of an expert adviser on breast feeding for exclusive use of Harpenden residents.

St. Albans and District Food Bank – £2,483 to cover cost of computer equipment and installation.

Harpenden MENCAP – £18,000 for supply and installation of a more sophisticated fire warning system.

Harpenden and Redbourn Girl Guiding – £1,500 to cover installation of a disabled access ramp.

Sauncey Wood School – £2,107 to cover cost of playground marking e.g. road track with roundabout and zebra crossing.

9th Harpenden Scouts – £3,000 to assist landscape gardening around new premises.

CHIC West Herts Parents Group (based in Harpenden and supports hearing impaired children) – £600 for soft furnishings to absorb some of background noise.
