The Harpenden Trust has a range of opportunities for volunteers to get involved, however little time you may have to to spare. Many roles require no more than an hour a week.
We rely on the goodwill of people like you because, without the involvement of our volunteers, we could not support the individuals, families and organisations across Harpenden that need our support. Here is a selection of our volunteer roles; there is something to suit everyone.
There are many different roles if you would like to get involved on a regular basis into a local social activity. For example, you could become a regular (once-a-week) driver, befriend a lonely person (weekly) or join our Wellbeing team to help someone with poor mental health into a local social activity. We also have roles which are more organisational or administrative-based. Roles requiring specific skills and qualifications are posted up on the Trust's Website as the need arises.
Every Autumn we are always looking for new Appeal Volunteers to assist with the delivery and collection of our annual Christmas Appeal envelopes. This involves about a total of 6 hours commitment during December. It is a very rewarding role because the money raised provides half of our Care Fund’s annual expenditure supporting individuals, families and young people in need of a helping hand.
We also have a team of volunteers who pack and deliver Christmas parcels to elderly residents who may otherwise miss out on Christmas treats.
If you feel you cannot make a regular commitment, but would like to help at one-off events, or with occasional driving or odd-jobs, then we would also be keen to hear from you.
The Trust is committed to embracing diversity and promoting equality and inclusion when recruiting volunteers and welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds and skills. We provide appropriate training for all our volunteers and have adopted a range of policies to support them in their roles. Some of the roles are mentioned above, but please contact us for more details by calling or email us at [email protected].
