Harpenden Trust Minibus - Harpenden Golf Club Juniors trip to the BMW PGA

Saturday 21st September was a very special day for a group of ten youngsters from Harpenden Golf Club. Using the new Harpenden Trust minibus, they travelled to the iconic Wentworth Golf Club, which is the home of the much-revered BMW PGA Tournament. Previous winners have included Seve Ballesteros, Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry, so it always provides an exciting field of golfers to watch up close and personal. This year was to prove no exception, as Billy Horschel and Rory battled it out over the final two days. Jeremy Rance, the Junior Organiser at Harpenden Golf Club, said: ‘All of the Juniors who attended the event were amazed and impressed by the precision and power of the golfers. Only a few of them had previously attended such an event, so it was a memorable day for them. We are all incredibly grateful to the Harpenden Trust for allowing us to use your minibus, and in particular to Richard Nichols and Jeremy Smith, for facilitating this opportunity. Thank you very much – without your support, the trip would not have been possible, so you’ve enabled some youngsters to really create some treasured memories.’

The Harpenden Trust AGM took place on Tuesday 17th October.  The evening was very well attended by both Harpenden Trust members and volunteers, and a number of guests from our local community, including many of our partnership organisations. We were also honoured to have Pip Liver, the Town Mayor, and Victoria Collins, MP for Harpenden and Berkhamstead, address the meeting.

Ribbon Cancer Support Group - MacMillan Coffee Morning in the Well Bean Cafe

The Ribbon Cancer Support group were delighted to host a MacMillan Coffee Morning in the Well Bean Cafe on Friday. Our regular team of Harpenden Trust volunteer baristas worked alongside the RCSG members. There was a wonderful spread of cakes and around 60 coffees and teas were served, raising over £500 for MacMillan Cancer Support. Thanks to all those who helped and who came along to support such a worthwhile charity!

Harpenden Trust head to Homedell House for a singalong!

When a guest at the Harpenden Trust tea party found out that our volunteer Yvonne was in a choir, they were quick to snap her up and get her to gather a group of willing singers to join them at Homedell House, the retirement complex in Roundwood.
