As we gathered together for our trip to Ashridge House just before Christmas, there was a sense of excitement and anticipation. The drizzle on our journey didn’t dampen our spirits and the rain kindly abated on our arrival. After a photo shoot by the pretty Christmas tree in the courtyard of the house, we made expectantly for the winter wonderland and we weren’t disappointed. We were greeted by a cheery festive village, full of Christmas fayre and adorned by illuminated reindeer. The light trail then unfolded before our eyes and was a real feast for the senses. There was everything from a walkway of decorated Christmas trees, laser lights, a display of fire, water and music and a stunning, colourful sound and light display against the dramatic backdrop of Ashridge House. We were sad to leave, but everyone agreed that the whole evening made for a magical start to the Christmas season for us all, especially our Ukrainian friends, who were so grateful to Harpenden Trust for giving them this opportunity. Afterwards, one of the ladies described the evening as a real miracle and an incredibly enchanting event that would remain in their memories for many years.
