Introducing ... Colin

“I started volunteering for the Harpenden Trust when I retired 2 years ago and was looking to put something back into the community I have lived in for 40 years. Initially I decided to be a Befriender and I still do that, enjoying reaching out to older members of the community who are isolated. I then joined the Senior Outings team, helping run events for older people to get out and about. We recently ran a trip to Frosts nursery for 12 clients - all had a great time thanks to the Trust. Shortly after joining the Trust I was appointed Property Manager to oversee the refurbishment of the 130 Southdown Road property. This used the 40 years of experience I had working in the construction industry. It was great to see the property come back to life and become a place where people want to come and spend time. There are still works planned for this summer including refurbishing the toilets. I really enjoy my time working with the Harpenden Trust, meeting new people and helping to make a difference.“
