Introducing ... Kathy!

“After a few years of retirement I decided that I had enough free time to do some voluntary work for an hour or two a week. As I have enjoyed living in Harpenden for 45 years, Harpenden Trust seemed the obvious choice. I really enjoy chatting to people so it was suggested that I try befriending. I started just before COVID and my befriendee is an elderly lady who was feeling a little lonely as her daughter had recently moved away. I started by phoning and as COVID rules were lifted I began to visit for about an hour each week. We get on really well and always manage to have a few laughs along the way.  It is nice to feel needed and I hope I brighten my befriendee’s week a little as she is now housebound. About two years ago I also started delivering the Trust Christmas parcels and I also help deliver the Christmas appeal envelopes to my street. I have made a lot friends through my volunteering role and would recommend the Trust to anyone with a little spare time.”

If you are interested in volunteering please contact the Harpenden Trust office on 01582 460457 or e-mail [email protected] to discuss roles we have currently available.
