New Facilities at Hornbeam Wood Hedgehog Sanctuary

The Hornbeam Wood Hedgehog Sanctuary was founded in 2015 and and since then the Harpenden Trust's Community Fund has been delighted to support improved facilities. The latest one to be completed is a shed housing a new gift shop as well as a storage area for the charity's educational resources, which includes a microscope for the use of older children and adults.

The growth in visiting the Sanctuary has been tremendous and over the last 12 months over 4,000 people visited the site. The Sanctuary has a close relationship with local schools and also look to provide a great venue for those with special needs both adults and children. With increasing number of visitors the shop will assist in increasing income necessary to fund the continuing growth. The Sanctuary is also to be featured in TV documentaries to be shown later this year.

A furry hedgehog has been donated to the Trust - thanks!!
