Success of Mike Joiner's Care Fund Fundraising Effort

Mike Joiner undertook his personal fundraising effort on behalf of the Harpenden Trust (News, 23 July) on 22 August 2021.

Mike, along with his pet dog Sweep, completed as many loops of Harpenden Common in his sturdy chair as they could possibly manage. Mike actually completed 6.5 miles in his chair, far more than his usual daily 1 mile, or 30 minutes - along with a bucket collection as he undertook his challenge. On the day the weather and soft ground were ideal.

In total, along with his GoFundMe page, Mike raised £1,500.

The Harpenden Trust is very grateful to Mike for his amazing effort on behalf of the Trust. The money will be used by the Care Fund to help support families and individuals in Harpenden. Thank-you also to Richard Crooks, Sarah Harris and Glyn Goodwin who provided invaluable support, handing out flyers, during part of Mike’s Challenge.

Mike said, “I would like to thank everybody who has supported me. Those who have donated, shared my post and offered me support, also those who joined me for a lap of the common. For me you are the real heroes and without you none of this would be possible. A very big thank-you to you all.“
