Success of Mike Joiner's Care Fund Fundraising Effort

Mike Joiner undertook his personal fundraising effort on behalf of the Harpenden Trust (News, 23 July) on 22 August 2021. 

Mike, along with his pet dog Sweep, completed as many loops of Harpenden Common in his sturdy chair as they could possibly manage. Mike actually completed 6.5 miles in his chair, far more than his usual daily 1 mile, or 30 minutes - along with a bucket collection as he undertook his challenge. On the day the weather and soft ground were ideal.

In total, along with his GoFundMe page, Mike raised £1,500.

The Harpenden Trust is very grateful to Mike for his amazing effort on behalf of the Trust. The money will be used by the Care Fund to help support families and individuals in Harpenden. Thank-you also to Richard Crooks, Sarah Harris and Glyn Goodwin who provided invaluable support, handing out flyers, during part of Mike’s Challenge. 

Mike said, “I would like to thank everybody who has supported me. Those who have donated, shared my post and offered me support, also those who joined me for a lap of the common. For me you are the real heroes and without you none of this would be possible. A very big thank-you to you all.“

Busy Bees Nursery - Food Donation to the Harpenden Trust

Every year, Harpenden Trust collects food items and gives them to our most vulnerable residents living in Harpenden to help them with the cost of Christmas. Grove Junior School Choir at the Harpenden Trust Seniors Coffee morning

On Tuesday, 10th December, the Grove Junior School choir visited the Harpenden Trust Centre at 90 Southdown Road,  to sing carols for our guests at the Seniors Coffee Morning. We host the Seniors Coffee Morning there every Tuesday 10-11am and all seniors are very welcome to join us. Harpenden Trust Community Fund at official opening of New Tea Room at Willow Court

The Community Fund of the Harpenden Trust are delighted to have been able to contribute towards the creation of a new tea room at Willow Court Care Home called The Secret Garden. The official opening was attended by Steve Pryor the Chair of the Community Fund and past and present Secretaries Jan Seager and Colin Brooker.
