Trust Help for Ukrainian Refugees

The Harpenden Trust has started to receive enquiries from host families in Harpenden with Ukrainian refugees either staying or shortly arriving.

In discussion with the Town Council the Trust gathered together representatives from several local charities to understand the type of help they are able to provide, to develop a co-ordinated approach and seeking to avoid duplication and gaps.

The plan is to produce a document with contact details of help available so that callers can be directed to the best source of help.

Vodafone are offering free SIM cards to Ukrainian families - these are now available from our office free of charge for adult refugees (limit of two per family).

Our Home Visits Team have already visited three families from Ukraine and have been giving help, mainly in association with children needing school uniforms. The Trust’s ability to support these refugees has been boosted by a donation of £3,000 from the Town Council to help with extra costs in the future due to Ukrainian refugees living in the town.
